Bath is a city of unparalleled historical significance. It is most famous for its hot springs. These were revered by the Romans over two thousand years ago, which they dedicated to the goddess Sulis - giving the city its ancient name of Aquae Sulis. Bath is situated in a beautiful region of South West England which boasts many other sites of historical and cultural interest, including Stonehenge and Salisbury to the South East, Wells cathedral, Glastonbury and the Cheddar Gorge to the South West and the stunning Cotswolds to the North. Bath is also only 30 minutes from Bristol, which is the major urban centre in the South West of England.
